AS A STYLE EDITOR, I have my days where I just want to be cozy. That means swapping my chinos for my best joggers. When it comes to the latter, I can count on them for comfort and functionality—whether I’m heading to the coffee shop, the gym, the office, or even running errands on the weekend. Plus, today’s joggers have been updated with breathable fabrics and flattering fits that earn double takes, not side-eyes. If I had to choose my favorite pairs, it would be a close call between Vuori’s Sunday Performance Jogger and Lululemon’s Surge Jogger.
Both athleisure brands make styles that are sharp enough for the real world, but still durable enough for a workout. But while they both check the comfort and style boxes, they do so in totally different ways. To help you figure out which pair deserves a spot in your rotation, I broke down how Vuori’s Sunday Performance Jogger stacks up against Lululemon’s Surge Jogger.

Fabric
Fabric can make or break your joggers. I prefer that sweet spot where it’s soft enough to lounge in but technical enough to actually exercise in. Both Vuori and Lululemon hit that balance using different materials.
Vuori’s Sunday Performance Jogger is made from a polyester-elastane blend that feels like butter. It’s soft, smooth, and breathable enough that I don’t feel gross wearing it all day—whether I’m grabbing coffee or sprawled out on the couch. This jogger also has just the right amount of stretch, too. I can squat, lunge, sprint for the train, and it doesn’t sag or stiffen up. The fabric’s midweight, so it has heft without overheating. I wore this during a hot summer day commute, and it kept me cool and comfortable. I
The Lululemon Surge Jogger’s fabric goes more technical. It uses a nylon-elastane blend, which is lighter and more durable than the Sunday Performance Jogger. It’s more breathable and dries quicker. And I found it kept me cooler during deadlifts, runs, and circuit training than Vuori’s. The Surge doesn’t feel as cozy as Vuori’s jogger, but it delivers better performance.
Fit
Both joggers have that athletic cut, but Vuori’s gives you a little more breathing room in the thighs–so if you’ve got beefy quads, Vuori’s is the way to go. I’ve worn them for grocery store runs, casual office days, even post-leg days, and they always hold their shape without feeling snug. Lululemon’s jogger also has a tapered leg, but it’s more streamlined and works for leaner builds.
When I first slipped it on, I could tell it was made for movement—there’s enough room up top for your glutes and thighs to breathe. It tapers clean toward the ankle for that classic workout pant look. I’ve worn it for everything from deadlifts to dog walks, and while it moves, it definitely sits a bit closer through the thigh. If you’re more on the muscular side, it might feel a little snug in deep squats, but nothing that holds you back.
Style
Style-wise, Vuori’s jogger looks and feels like activewear, full stop. It’s sleek and clean, but the sporty vibe is hard to dress up. I usually reserve it for gym sessions, spin class, or days when I’m running out the door in full-on workout mode. It looks best with my On Cloud trainers or Hokas. I’ve tried dressing it up with a hoodie and nicer sneakers, but it still reads very “I’m headed to the gym,” which isn’t a bad thing—it just doesn’t have as much crossover style.
Lululemon’s design feels more elevated. I’ve worn it with my running shoes, but I’ve also paired it with my Nike Killshots and leather sneakers, and it still works. It doesn’t scream workout clothes, so I can get away with wearing it to lunch, walking around Manhattan, or traveling. It’s slim and tapered enough to feel a bit polished, not sloppy, and the fabric has a sleek finish that doesn’t look overly shiny or technical. If I’m building an outfit around joggers and want to look put-together, nine times out of ten, I’m reaching for the Lululemon pair.
If you’re looking for a jogger that’s built for chilling or workouts, Vuori’s Sunday Performance Jogger is hard to beat. Staying true to its So-Cal roots, it’s super laid-back and something that feels like a second skin on recovery days. But if I want something I can sweat in and still feel polished enough to wear out and about, Lululemon’s Surge Jogger takes the win. It’s more breathable, easier to style, and just blends in better when you’re not in full-on fitness mode. Bottom line? Vuori nails the cozy, athletic vibe. Lululemon’s got the edge when it comes to everyday wear.
