Vanilla and chocolate syrup recalled after consumer complaints of bloated bottles

Subso Foods Inc. of West Chicago, IL is recalling Fox’s u-bet brand Vanilla Flavored Syrup and Sugar-Free Chocolate Flavored Syrup after testing and examination of certain lots revealed they did not meet specifications, including elevated pH and water activity levels. This may indicate microbiological activity and therefore pose a risk of foodborne illness.

This recall was prompted by a customer complaint of bloated bottles.

According to the details posted online by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), the recall was initiated on July 9, 2024, and is ongoing.

The recalled product was distributed in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.

Consumers and retailers should not use this product. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to their place of purchase.
