HALLMARK LEADING MAN Luke Macfarlane is busy.
Between filming for Home Is Where the Heart Is, and attending to his newborn baby girl, there’s not a ton of time in the day to get in a solid workout.
He’s well aware of the importance of staying in shape, though, especially as an actor. For his role in Universal Picture’s Bros back in 2022, he was required to put on some weight to look as jacked as possible. He started working with heavier weights to bulk up (and boy, it worked). Even now, he’s a carpenter on Hallmark’s newest show, Home Is Where the Heart Is, which has forced him to work on his grip strength.
As he’s gotten older, he’s started working to slim down. He’s opted for more reps with slightly lighter weights in order to achieve that. He’s tight on time, though, which has led him to condense his workouts into a series of compound movements that hit multiple muscle groups at once—making him as efficient as possible. “We try to get it done as quick as possible,” he says. “But that doesn’t mean we don’t hit all the muscle groups.”
Here’s how he does it.
