The Pitt Is Coming Back for Season 2 Way Sooner Than You Think

YOU KNOW WHAT? I’m just going to say it: The Pitt is one of the best, most addicting new television shows to come along in years. Combining the real-time gimmick of 24 with the medical drama of shows like House and ER (and featuring a wildly charismatic star of the latter in Noah Wyle), The Pitt pulls you in and refuses to let you go. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll feel like you made friends, and you’ll feel like you lost loved ones; Everything about this show feels real. And that’s not just counting the characters—some of the gnarliest surgical and injury shots have come in this show, and it all helps to make the world of The Pitt feel like one you can get absolutely lost in.
It may feel difficult to say goodbye to all our new Pitt friends as season 1 concludes. After all, fellow beloved hit shows like Severance recently took just about three years (!) to return for a second season. Luckily, you won’t have to worry about this with The Pitt; Thankfully, this show is veering closer to the schedule of shows like The Bear and Only Murders in the Building, with plans to return every year for the foreseeable future, than some of its more ambitious and harder-to-schedule modern television counterparts.
So it’s good news! Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) and friends will all hold court again, and we’ll be waiting for season 2 to come out. Hopefully, it won’t feel as long as some of those stints in the ER waiting room…
Here’s what we know about The Pitt season 2.
Will The Pitt have a season 2?
Yes! The Pitt was officially renewed for a season 2 on Max back in February 2025. The events of the second season, according to a cover story interview Noah Wyle did with Variety, will take place approximately 10 months after those of the first season, when Dr. Robby is “no longer is able to pretend to himself that he doesn’t need help.”
“In a perfect world, this show goes several seasons, so we don’t have to rush this process,” he said in the same interview. “It’s a really interesting road that he’s about to embark on.”
Executive producer R. Scott Gemmill also revealed a major detail at a recent Deadline event: The season will take place over the course of a July 4th weekend. So you can only imagine the type of bar-b-que, fireworks, and alcohol-inspired ailments that we’ll see (in addition to all the heavier stuff that the show always handles so particularly well).
When will The Pitt season 2 come out?
The same cover story that Noah Wyle did with Variety also confirmed that The Pitt will return for season 2 in January 2026—and that Max plans for the show to return for a new season every year. With seemingly no end in sight!
We’re on board with that. As long as people need help in Pittsburgh, and find themselves coming into The Pitt, we’re on board to see how Dr. Robby, Dr. McKay, Dr. Mohan, Dr. Langdon and the rest of the crew manage to get them patched up.
