Marlowe

Marlowe

I love Marlowe products mainly because the brand never overthinks this whole skincare thing. Its products are simple and effective. The creams are smooth and long-lasting without being heavy, the soaps are deeply cleansing with strong lathers, and the deodorants smell great while providing day-long protection.

The brand heavily features natural ingredients (which I love) and never includes any irritating chemicals like parabens or phthalates (which my sensitive skin hates). Not to mention, many of the products are sustainably packaged, including the soap wrappers which are made up of 100 percent recycled materials. Simply put, when I’m browsing the skincare aisle (or more accurately, Amazon’s skincare page), Marlowe is the most reliable brand I can find time after time.

Product Highlight: The Marlowe No. 102 Body Scrub Soaps get a lot of love thanks to their clean formulas backed by always moisturizing green tea, shea butter, and olive oil, as well as incredible, cologne quality scents like santal or oud wood. Not to mention, insanely strong lathers that help these bars last for weeks.

But if I had to pick one facial moisturizer to wear for the rest of my life, it’d probably be the No. 128 Daily Face Lotion with SPF 50. Not only is it the best SPF moisturizer around, it’s one of the most nourishing, hydrating, and non-irritating moisturizers full stop, SPF or not.

Best Skincare Brand for Outdoor Adventures

Bravo Sierra

Bravo Sierra

Bravo Sierra started in 2018 with a simple goal: Create military-grade personal care products that can withstand the most extreme conditions without the use of any harsh ingredients like parabens, sulfates, or silicones. In just a few years, the high-performance brand was offering upgrades on daily essentials like bar soap, body wash, and deodorant with better ingredients, as well as incredible, elevated scents like orris and santal, and bergamot and musk. Bravo Sierra never forgets its military-inspired roots either, donating over $500,000 to veterans organizations since its inception, according to cofounder Benjamin Bernet.

Product Highlight: I’ve written quite a bit about Bravo Sierra’s incredible deodorant and how its unscented option is the best fragrance-free deodorant on the market, but the scented versions are equally great. Whenever I’m going camping or planning a long hike, I turn to Bravo Sierra’s deodorants because they go on clear, contain probiotics to help control bacteria, and truly withstand the elements.

I once competed in a 10k trail run in the rain wearing the bergamot and musk, and you better believe I was the best smelling dude there post-run, as the scent was still lingering after all that. The brand’s cleansing bar soaps also deserve a shout out as one of the most multipurpose soaps (formulated for face, hair, and body) while packing the same stellar scent.

Best Skincare Brand for Sensitive Skin

Baxter of California

Baxter of California

Founded in 1965, Baxter of California is one of the oldest grooming brands on this list. As a result, it has a wide-range of skincare solutions, but has really been able to zero in on options for sensitive skin over the years. The brand’s most notable skincare products are all either fragrance-free, like the Oil-Free Moisturizer and Daily Face Wash, or mildly scented so as to not irritate skin, like the Exfoliating Body Wash. And while the latter’s oak moss and cedar scent is certainly subtle, it’s also delightfully woodsy and lasts much longer than its initial intensity would suggest.

Product Highlight: The Facial Scrub is backed by walnut shell powder, which helps shrink pores and absorb oil and moisturizing avocado oil to create a gentle soothing exfoliation. The container is also barely over $20 and lasts forever, as you only need a small dime-sized dose to cover your entire face.

Best Luxury Skincare Brand

Medik8

Medik8

This UK-based skincare brand is heavy on the science and uses its own labs to develop products focused on keeping your skin healthy in the most effective way possible. Built on three pillars—sun protection, Vitamin C, and retinol—these products not only help your skin live its best life now, but protect it from signs of aging in the future. It’s an extensive line with popular favorites like the Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye Cream, C-Tetra Vitamin C Serum, and the Advanced Night Ceramide Cream to set your skin up for success.

Product Highlight: Of all the best-sellers mentioned, there is none I ride harder for than the Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye. You may have noticed the retinal in that title, rather than the far more common retinol, but that isn’t a typo. Just like retinol, retinal is a vitamin A derivative with anti-aging and acne-fighting properties. It’s a slightly more potent vitamin A derivative, however, meaning two things.

One, it’ll clear skin and reward it with additional elasticity even more successfully than retinol options. And two, it’s way easier (and more harmful) to overuse than retinol, so take it slow and easy if you’re new to the ingredient. Too much product can result in irritation and drying (been there!), which is not fun.

Coolest Skincare Brand

Horace

Horace

You’ll likely find this French grooming brand in the medicine cabinet of your coolest, most in-the-know friend. It’s a Parisian-born brand that merges the French sensibility of simplicity with modern natural ingredients. What started with highly effective and pleasant to use face products (try the Mattifying Face Moisturizer and Anti-Dark Circle Cleanser) has now expanded to beard products like luxuriously scented beard oils, body lotion, and hair products (even solid shampoo).

But what we really dig about Horace is that the brand’s commitment to offering options for various skin types or unique concerns. In fact, Horace’s website even includes a consultation quiz you can take to ensure you’re set up with a curated list of items to address your specific needs.

Product Highlight: As someone who has struggled with easily irritated skin and redness, I ride hard for the Horace’s Balanced Skin Set. It features the Purifying Face Cleanser, which delicately cleanses skin while eliminating excess oil, and the Hyaluronic Acid and Panthenol Serum to then provide immediate moisture, leaving skin feeling softer for longer.

The trio is then topped off with the Mattifying Face Moisturizer to hydrate and protect skin. Not to mention, it doesn’t leave any greasy residue behind. This routine has eliminated facial redness time after time for me.

Best Budget Skincare Brand

Bevel

Bevel

What started with a razor designed to minimize ingrown hairs has since exploded into a full-on grooming empire with thoughtful, solution-oriented products to be used from head to toe. The brand was conceived to provide grooming products to men of color, specifically, but these innovative and effective products can be used by all people regardless of skin color or type, like the soothing aloe vera and coconut water infused face and beard wash, or body wash, which is the body wash which we found to be the most moisturizing option available. Best of all, rarely are these products above $15.

Product Highlight: Obviously, Bevel has come a long way from its ingrown hair-fighting origins, but the brand’s exfoliating toner pads are still hard to beat. Thanks to a powerful combination of green tea and 10 percent glycolic acid, they prepare skin for additional products by deeply cleansing and clearing any lingering gunk on the face, while minimizing the risk of ingrown hairs or other blemishes by exfoliating the skin.

Best Smelling Skincare Brand

Aesop

Aesop

Status skincare is a thing and Aesop pretty much invented it. Using natural ingredients and elevated scents, these products don’t just look good on your bathroom counter, they actually work to cleanse, hydrate, and fortify your skin, hair, and body.

But anyone who has ever used Aesop products knows among the slick designs and soothing formulas, the aspect that really stands out is the scents. From the earthy sandalwood blend of the Moroccan Neroli Post-Shave Lotion to the fresh, citrus-scented Bitter Orange Astringent Toner, it’s no wonder the brand sells its own parfum bottles.

Product Highlight: This product selection is wide, so I’d recommend starting with a bundle that features curated product groupings based on skin type and need. But a special shout out to the Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Intense Serum, which is a perfect do-it-all serum for daily use, and the Coriander Seed Body Cleanser, when of the best smelling body washes around.

Best Skincare Brand for Oily Skin

Atwater

Atwater

Developed by the former president of Kiehl’s, Chris Salgardo, this men’s grooming brand provides innovative and intuitive products that are deceptively simple. The founder developed all the formulas from scratch using natural, non-toxic ingredients, and used his learnings from his years in skincare to create products that don’t just work, but you actually want to use.

Similar to Horace, Atwater breaks out products by unique needs. However, it’s a bit more streamlined with simple three options: normal/combination, dry, and oily. While the dry and normal options are also stellar, no other brand nails the demands of oily skin better.

Product Highlight: This is led by the Oil Regulator Facial Cleansing Bar and Oil Regulator Facial Moisturizer. The moisturizer is great, as its gel-consistency is both lightweight and nongreasy, so oily folks can use it without fear of residue, however, the cleansing bar is what’s truly special. Most people with oily skin understand the importance of using lightweight, nongreasy moisturizers and creams, but few pinpoint the importance of soap in this journey.

So many standard soaps and washes strip away skin’s natural oils, causing it to overcompensate and produce more sebum (aka how our skin naturally fights dryness) to restore its moisture balance. Not this bar though, with hero ingredients charcoal to excess oil and sebum, and with glycerin to rest

Best Skincare Brand for Dry Skin

La Roche-Posay

La Roche-Posay

If your skin is prone to dryness, there’s a good chance that you already have some La Roche Posay in your medicine cabinet. But if you haven’t tried the brand and you often battle flakes, redness, or other issues associated with dry skin, I can say with no hyperbole that I’m about to change your life. La Roche Posay products heavily feature skin soothing gems like niacinamide, glycerin, and ceramides, all of which help restore the skin’s moisture barrier and promote a healthy microbiome.

The creams feel as gentle as any I’ve tested, and most are fragrance-free to avoid any unnecessary irritation. Not to mention, the brand has more products officially accepted by the National Eczema Association than I can count (I also hate doing math, but that’s beside the point). You simply won’t find better skincare for dry skin than La Roche Posay.

Product Highlight: Speaking of the brand’s plethora of National Eczema Association-approved products, the Lipikar AP+M Triple Repair Body Moisturizer is specifically designed to combat dry skin with a formula featuring soothing shea butter and glycerin, ceramide-3 to strengthen and protect the skin’s natural barrier, and niacinamide with its anti-inflammatory properties.

I’m prone to dry skin pretty much everywhere (especially during the cooler months) but I lather this stuff on twice a day, and it’s barely an issue anymore. Plus, it absorbs faster than any other body lotion I’ve tried.

Best Skincare Brand for Clean Shaven Men

Harry’s

Harry's

You probably already know about Harry’s thanks to their hard-to-beat razors and shaving products that revolutionized the cartridge razor game, but if you haven’t explored the brand’s skin, body, and other beard products, you’re missing out. The brand known for inexpensive and easy-to-use shaving solutions now offers an entire range to keep you groomed and fresh from head to toe, including the 2025 Men’s Health Grooming Award-winning black lip balm backed by meadowfoam for lasting moisturization.

Product Highlight: The Exfoliating Face Wash and moisturizing Daily Face Lotion for your mug are a couple of my favorite budget options available. The face wash is especially useful, as it helps minimize any irritation or ingrowns after shaving with the help of hero ingredient volcanic rock, which works to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover.
