HOW COULD TV’S most star-studded show top its most star-studded season yet? Well, by adding more stars, of course! After a third season that featured prominent roles for special guest stars Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd, Only Murders in the Building is back for a fourth season that not only ups the game in terms of star power (and brings back the legendary Streep), but sends its story in a totally zany and meta direction that could make for the show’s most unique season yet.

And, of course, there’s a murder mystery at the center of everything too. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel have gotten famous enough that their Only Murders in the Building podcast is being adapted (with Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, and Eva Longoria playing themselves playing the trio), and while they’re dealing with that… they discover that one of Charles’s oldest friends has been murdered (or so it seems).

As we saw at the end of season 3, Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch)—Charles’s stunt double on his show Brazzos—was shot by a sniper through the window. We don’t know whether Sazz has actually been killed just yet, but we do know that Sazz looks exactly like Charles. So that likely means that whoever took a shot at Sazz really meant to take a shot at Charles. And what does that mean?

Perhaps our trio have finally met their match when it comes to doing a little too much snooping. But they’re going to have to deal with a whole new threat—fame and potentially pretentious actors—before figuring out the mystery that’s unfurling this time.

Only Murders in the Building season 4 should bring everything we love in this series, with lots of laughs and tons more intrigue, with a This Is The End type of self-referential sense of humor added for good measure.
