THERE AREN’T A lot of perfect movies out there, but it feels safe to call 1988’s Beetlejuice one of them. At the same time a dark comedy, a gothic thriller, and a complete gross-out horror campfest, the film appropriately earned its sterling reputation and legions of fans upon release, and, on the strength of Michael Keaton’s small but incredibly memorable performance in the titular role, has stood the test of time. Every rewatch of Beetlejuice holds up, and thanks to the A+ practical effects (which were nominated for an Oscar) and the top-notch cast (which included Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Alec Baldwin, and Geena Davis in addition to Keaton), it has really stood the test of time.

The trend of legacy sequels in the last decade or so has brought about a mixed bag. Movies like the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the new Scream films, the Jurassic Worlds, and even this summer’s Twisters have divided audiences. But now, there’s hope that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice—out in theaters now—can successfully capture the dark magic of the original film that’s been everlasting for nearly 4src years.

A couple key pieces should help to accomplish that. The movie brings Tim Burton back to the director’s chair, along with a cast led by the returning Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara. The new additions—Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci—all feel like natural fits to this world, and word is that the sequel leaned into practical, sure-to-be-icky visual effects just as much as the original did. If nothing else, fans of the first Beetlejuice should expect to be in for a fun time.

So if you’re a die-hard fan of Beetlejuice (just like we are), we know you want a way to check it out—and we’ve got all the information on how to do so just below.

Where and when will Beetlejuice Beetlejuice be streaming?

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is expected to be a box office hit, meaning it will probably stick around exclusively in theaters longer than most other movies. Eventually—perhaps some time in November—it will become available to buy and rent at home on VOD.

Some time after that, since Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a Warner Bros. film, it will become available to stream on Max. That would likely come some time in mid/late December, though no official dates have been announced.
